Financial Aid Funds

The University of Ottawa maintains an Employee’s Financial Aid Fund to assist CUPE 2626 members with the payment of tuition, UHIP fees and child care costs in order to perform their duties, in cases of demonstrated financial need. Effective September 1, 2004, the annual amount allocated to the fund shall be $135,000. Of the fund, an amount of $5,000 is reserved particularly for assistance for UHIP fees for our members who are international students and $5,000 is reserved for assistance to our members for child care costs. This fund shall be administered by the Labour/Management Committee, on the recommendation of the CUPE 2626 Bursary Committee.

How to Apply?

The Employee's Financial Aid Fund was created to assist CUPE 2626 members with the payment of tuition, UHIP fees and child care costs in cases of demonstrated financial need. The value of individual bursaries are:

• Help with tuition fees: $2000 (fall, winter, and spring/summer sessions)
• Help with UHIP: $500 (fall and winter sessions only)
• Help with child care: $500 (fall and winter sessions only)

If your application is successful, the bursary will be deposited into your University of Ottawa student account.

Eligibility conditions for Employee's Financial Aid Fund Applicants:

• Be a member of CUPE 2626
• Provide a 12-month budget and a completed Financial Aid Fund application form
• Members that are sponsored for the payment of tuition fees are not eligible

If applicable, include the following documents when applying for the Employee's Financial Aid Fund. Only applications duly completed and accompanied by supporting documents will be processed.

• A detailed 12-month budget
• A letter detailing your specific needs for funding and a description of any special circumstances
• A copy of your housing lease or sharing agreement provided by the owner
• A copy of receipts and/or subsidy documents for child care expenses (if applicable)
• A copy of your CUPE 2626 contract

Complete the “CUPE 2626 Employee's Financial Aid Fund” form available at our office or on our website, include your student budget, and return it with the other documents to the CUPE 2626 office located in room 303 of the University Centre, University of Ottawa.

When to Apply?

Please note that the UHIP and Child Care Funds are given only in the Fall and Winter  semesters of each year.
