President
The President is the first person in charge of CUPE 2626 and is its official spokesperson.
The President enforces the CUPE Constitution and these bylaws;
The President ensures that all officers perform their assigned duties;
The President fills committee vacancies where elections are not provided for;
The President introduces new members and conduct them through the initiation ceremony;
The President must sign all authorizations, contracts and official documents of CUPE 2626.
The President is -- along with the Secretary-Treasurer, and VicePresident one of the co-signers of the funds of CUPE 2626. Consequently, she is partly responsible for those funds.
The President ensures that the Local's funds are used only as authorized or directed by the Constitution, bylaws, or vote of the membership;
The President has first preference as a delegate to the CUPE National Convention;
The President prepares, after consulting with EC members, the agenda for the EC meetings and the GAs.
The President makes sure that all the officers of CUPE 2626 fulfill the duties that are assigned to them.
The President has the power to delegate any specific task or responsibility to an officer without portfolio of the EC.
The President can assume additional responsibilities or tasks that are deemed beneficial for CUPE 2626.
The President must report on her activities to the EC.
The President is in charge of keeping contacts between CUPE 2626 and CUPE. Furthermore, she must forward requests of CUPE 2626 members to CUPE when it is necessary.
The President and the Vice President are responsible for creating and upholding contacts with university unions, student associations and other external organizations, according to what the EC deems worthwhile and necessary.
The President must prepare for the bulletin summaries of the activities of other unions or student associations that concern members of CUPE 2626.
The President is the chief delegate of CUPE 2626 at the CUPE national convention and at the conventions of any other organization to which CUPE 2626 is affiliated and/or to which it can send members.
The President is a member of the Grievance Committee.
The President must present an account of the activities of the EC at the AGA.
The President is in charge of the Labour-Management Committee.
At the end of her mandate, the President must submit to the EC a written report which will then be classified in the CUPE 2626 archives.
Subject to Article 14, the position of President is a paid position.
The President acts, on behalf of the EC, as the direct supervisor of the Administrative Assistant of CUPE 2626.
